The idea of the project is to conceptually stratify the terrain in order to create the topography allowing multiple and informal uses. All the functional elements like benches, garbage cans and lighting fit within the loop, not being the individual elements. The loop allows Sunday bicyclers to turn back and continue along the river promenade.

The goal of the project is preserving and emphasizing the unique quality of the Nowy Targ Square as a Modernist architecture monument. The complex was developed between 1950. and 60. as an architectural experiment – supermodern urban plan within the borders of the medieval city of Wroclaw. The square modular grid integrated with the buildings becomes a basis for new uses and materials continuing the Modernist contrasts and purity of surfaces.

The project unfolds the operational idea of the street (program) and its topography (sloping terrain), extending the sidwalk into the theater's foyer. Only partialy the architecture depends on artifitial (formal) urban regulations like rythm, plinth or facade. The context is understood as parametrer points: from the slope (1-2) to the level of existing auditorium (3), continuing the neighboring plinth (4-5) and the line of the tower over the scene (6-7).

The most important urban element of the site is the Stanislawowska Axis whis is cut by the road. The operational sense of the axis is then lost, and preserving it just as formal element seems to be a hollow gesture. We understand the new building as a chance to give it a sense and importance on the city map. Jumping over the site boundaries the building unfolds the terrain, the impact of the axis and multiple interpretations of the Polish history.

The spatial scheme of the 'Townscape' is based on a horizontal layering of walls of different shapes and heights. The distances between walls-layers are optimal ensuring the privacy of the dwellers and keeping human scale of the internal space. Thus the compact 'Townscape' was created - the title suggests formal and programmatic goals of the project which is aimed to be most diverse, multi functional, and not as boring as most of the modern housing estates are.

The project is an attempt to create specific museum by modifying the given functional program. All the public rooms expected to be separated are joined with exhibitions. Space for art is then upgraded with additional uses, just as one can see in Louvre caught in the painting by Hubert Robert on 1798. The large number of general public rooms is reduced to 12 halls of different light conditions. Neutral in form, the museum interior is challenging in the way of organization of spaces. The layout gives way to potentially inspiring collisions and lets unexpected scenarios to be unfold by curators, artists and visitors. All technical and additional functions are compressed in horizontal and vertical divisions that give structure to the halls.

The building is a simple and modest representation of the municipal needs of Kalisz city. The public hall with long, folded desk is divided into three zones – marked with the three cubes. On the upper level there are open space offices which are linked to the hall with three voids. The building is withdrew from the street line thus creating the small plaza with additional commercial programme which was our suggestion.

Fireman's house Baszkow project 2005 built 2007

A forgotten village in Western Poland. One and two storey houses along the road, school, church and the existing fire station with small room for weddings, funerals and community meetings. We were asked to design a sports hall on the top of it and then to put changers, conference room and small hostel below, keeping the programme of fire station. This is the most abstract example of programmatic mix in such surroundings. The sports hall jumped on the fire truck-like red base.
